Los Angeles, CA – The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) today announced that its endorsed candidates delivered a 93 percent success rate across the California and Nevada primary elections held in June of 2026. Of the 44 candidates the organization endorsed at the regional level for the June primaries, 41 either won their offices outright or advanced to the November 3rd general election.

“This success rate proves that when our community mobilizes behind candidates who stand with us in the pursuit of the Armenian Cause, we move the needle. That is the power of an engaged Diaspora, and it is a power ANCA-WR will continue to harness for years to come,” said Oshin Harootoonian, Chairman of the ANCA-WR Board of Directors. “For decades, ANCA-WR has built relationships with elected officials at every level of government – from city councils to the halls of Congress – because we understand that the fight for the Armenian Cause is won through the strength of our unity.”

California held its nonpartisan top-two primary on June 2nd, and Nevada held its partisan primary on June 9th. In California, where federal and state candidates advance to November by finishing among the top two and many county and municipal offices are decided outright at a majority, ANCA-WR-endorsed candidates produced 5 outright primary wins and 34 advancements to the general election, a 95 percent success rate across the 41-candidate California slate. 

Five ANCA-WR-endorsed candidates secured their offices outright in California. Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath and incoming Supervisor Maria Elena Durazo both cleared a majority in their districts, as did County Assessor Jeffrey Prang. In the City of Los Angeles, Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez was reelected outright, and Los Angeles Unified School District Board Member Kelly Gonez secured another term.

ANCA-WR-endorsed candidates for U.S. House advanced across the board, including Representatives Judy Chu, Laura Friedman, Brad Sherman, Luz Rivas, Kevin Mullin, Jim Costa, David Valadao, and Young Kim, along with former Secretary of Labor and current County Supervisor Hilda Solis. At the statewide level, endorsed candidates Attorney General Rob Bonta, Secretary of State Shirley Weber, Candidate for Treasurer and current Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, and Controller Malia Cohen all advanced. Endorsed candidates for the California State Senate and State Assembly advanced in races spanning the Central Valley, the San Fernando Valley, the San Gabriel Valley, and the greater Los Angeles area.

In Nevada, ANCA-WR endorsed U.S. Representatives Dina Titus of the 1st Congressional District and Susie Lee of the 3rd Congressional District. Representative Titus secured renomination with roughly 80 percent of the vote. Both incumbents won their Democratic primaries on June 9 and advanced to the November general election. 

Looking ahead to November, the ANCA-WR will continue candidate engagement, questionnaire review, and community mobilization through November 3.
