The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) welcomes Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent remarks affirming the designation of China’s systematic persecution of the Uyghur people as genocide.

We applaud Secretary Blinken’s commitment to exposing and condemning genocidal violence. Identifying genocide is crucial to ending the cycle of impunity that fuels mass atrocities and crimes against humanity.

We hope Secretary Blinken and the Biden Administration will maintain this same commitment to ensuring justice for all victims of genocide, and uphold their promise to recognize the Armenian Genocide on April 24th – the international day of commemoration for the 1.5 victims of the Ottoman Empire’s systematic extermination of the Armenian people – and finally end Turkey’s gag-rule over US foreign policy.
