The Armenian National Committee of America Western Region’s (ANCA-WR) “Centennial Activism and Beyond” Town Hall and mini-Advocacy Day series will travel to Salt Lake City on Thursday, March 5, 2015. The meeting will convene at 6:45pm in the Sandy Small Meeting Room located at 10100 South Petunia Way (1450 East) in Sandy, Utah 84092. Salt Lake City joins Las Vegas, Houston and Phoenix as a host city for the 2015 meeting series.
“We are excited to return to Salt Lake City and regroup with our local activists and grassroots, who so graciously welcomed us into their community last year,” noted ANCA-WR Chief Legislative Consultant. “We are eager to hear firsthand about the successful inroads they’ve made since our inaugural meeting and share our most recent updates with respect to both our local and national ANCA initiatives, and to continue strategizing and prioritizing effective solutions for the needs and concerns of our Armenian-American community throughout Utah,” added Baghdassarian.
“Our community is very much looking forward to the upcoming ANCA-WR Town Hall meeting, and especially to the unique opportunity which the civic engagement workshop will afford all those in attendance on March 5,” stated Salt Lake City community member Ohannes Megerdichian. “As our Armenian community in Utah expands, it is imperative that we are well-prepared and forward thinking about effective partnerships with our local and state elected officials, representatives and community organizations as we introduce issues of importance to us, and I am confident that this Town Hall meeting will provide ample resources to do just that,” continued Megerdichian.
The ANCA-WR Town Hall series was implemented to activate and engage Armenian American communities throughout the Western United States. Previous years’ town hall meetings have spanned the cities of Boise, Denver, Fresno, Houston, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Seattle.
The meetings are led by ANCA-WR senior staff and Executive Board members who provide attendees with an overview of the organization and its priorities. After the presentation, community members have an opportunity to ask questions, discuss issues of concern, make recommendations, and learn about ways to get involved with ANCA efforts locally.
