CARSON CITY, Nev. – True to their mission to enable grassroots advocacy for Armenian Genocide education and support for the Armenian homeland, the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region (ANCA-WR) and ANCA-Nevada will be hosting Carson City legislative advocacy days on March 21 and March 22, 2019.
“Building on regionwide activism, our Nevada grassroots will be returning to their State Capitol in Carson City to advocate for Armenian-American priorities, including support for the safety and security of Artsakh, one of the twin Armenian republics,” remarked ANCA-WR chair Nora Hovsepian, Esq. “Our communities across the Western USA are saying ‘enough’ to the Azerbaijani lobbyists’ whitewashing of the Aliyev regime’s ongoing crimes and aggression against the Armenian homeland,” continued Hovsepian, “and our grassroots will not stand by while a foreign lobby tries to buy influence in the very public buildings across the USA that are meant to serve and reflect the views of American citizens of Armenian descent.”
The Nevada Advocacy Days will start on March 21 and continue into the following day with legislative and executive meetings in Carson City. Armenian American activists, community members, and supporters interested in participating in Advocacy Days must register online at http://www.ancawr.org/nvadvocacy
“We are excited to return to our State Capitol to advocate for our ancestral homeland” remarked ANCA-Nevada co-chairs Hera Armenian, Esq. and Lenna Hovanessian, Esq. in a joint statement. “The 2015 Advocacy Day proved a fruitful exercise and despite the long distance between Carson City and Las Vegas, where most Nevadan Armenians reside, we are determined to make our voice heard to our elected officials,” continued the co-chairs.
The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANCA-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
