ANCA-WR Internship Program

The ANCA Western Region Internship Program is a prestigious, part-time leadership initiative designed for college students, recent graduates, and high school seniors at least 17 years of age. It offers a comprehensive introduction to the public affairs arena, with a focus on the American political system, Armenian-American issues, and advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.

Interns will acquire hands-on experience in non-profit management, government affairs, community organizing, education, communications, media relations, research, writing, and event planning. In addition to working on both individual and collaborative projects, interns will participate in workshops featuring distinguished guest speakers, including public officials, community leaders from ANCA Western Region, and subject-matter experts.

General Requirements and Preferences

  • Applicants preferably should have a high school diploma
  • Interns must complete at least 15 hours per week during the Spring and Fall sessions, and at least 25 hours in the Summer
  • Applicants must be at least 17 years old at the start of the program

Requirements & Responsibilities:

The ANCA-WR internship offers a dynamic, immersive experience that provides interns with a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s operations through cross-departmental work. Interns will be expected to fulfill the following requirements and responsibilities:

  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to critically assess media bias and cross-reference information
  • Proficiency in English, with familiarity in Armenian and other Caucasian languages considered an asset
  • Competence in public speaking, whether addressing live audiences or participating in virtual presentations
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Conducting research on community advocacy groups and organizations throughout the Western United States
