PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Walter and Laurel Karabian Fellowship is a 9-month experience in California that offers Armenian-Americans the opportunity to enhance their leadership and professional skills. The purpose of this fellowship will be to produce professionals in the public policy and political arena.
Through the ANCA Western Region, the Walter and Laurel Karabian Fellowship offers this unique opportunity to gain an invaluable experience to those with civic ambitions.
THE BASICS
Duration: 9-month program (April 1, 2021 – December 31, 2021) divided into 2 phases
Stipend: $1,800 per month ($16,200 for the term of the fellowship)
Networking Opportunities with local and state leaders that will expand the participants’ reach into California’s public policy and political environment
Series of Enrichment Seminars with the local community and state leaders
PROGRAM CALENDAR
Phase 1 (April 1 – September 30) – Placement in the ANCA-WR Office
Phase 2 (October 1 – December 31) – Placement in a government agency
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed undergraduate degree
- Ability to demonstrate community involvement
- Track record of growth and achievement within the professional environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation (written and oral), organization skills
- Flexible and adaptable style
- Demonstrated success at building followers and engaging audience across different platforms
- Self-reliant and highly motivated
