ANCA-WR Relaunches HyeVotes Campaign to Mobilize Armenian American Voters Ahead of 2026 Elections

May 21, 2025

GLENDALE, CA — The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) is proud to announce the official relaunch of its HyeVotes initiative, a grassroots civic engagement campaign aimed to increase Armenian-American voter registration, education, and turnout in advance of the 2026 primary and midterm elections.

Launched in 2012 as a nonpartisan community initiative, HyeVotes is now being reinvigorated with new energy, digital tools, and outreach strategies to meet the needs of a politically engaged yet often underrepresented population. With a growing Armenian-American community across the Western United States, the campaign aims to ensure that every eligible Armenian-American is registered, informed, and empowered to vote in the upcoming elections.

“The 2026 elections are a pivotal opportunity for the Armenian American community to assert its voice on local, state, and national levels,” said ANCA-WR Chairperson Oshin Harootoonian. “We’re relaunching HyeVotes not only to register voters but to cultivate a culture of lifelong civic participation.”

In the past, HyeVotes coordinated a multi-faceted civic participation campaign designed to walk first-time and disadvantaged voters through the entire political process. The components of the program include: voter registration, voter education, voter mobilization, voter assistance, voter research, and voting rights advocacy. Since its inception, HyeVotes’ efforts have resulted in over 50,000 new or re-registered Armenian voters and an unprecedented turnout in the elections by the Armenian-American community.

HyeVotes is also rolling out a statewide volunteer recruitment drive to build a network of civic advocates committed to helping community members overcome barriers to registration and participation, including language accessibility, misinformation, and voter apathy.

“Voting is not just a right—it’s a responsibility,” added Alex Manoukian, Director of HyeVotes. “This campaign is about showing Armenian-Americans the power of their vote and how it shapes the future for generations to come.”
