June 4, 2003

STUDIO CITY, CA – Over 100 guests and activists of the Armenian National Committee of America Western Region (ANCA-WR) were recently joined by some of the most popular figures in the Armenian music industry for a very special fundraiser at the home of Vahakn and Baytsar Thomasian in Studio City, California. The event, which was jointly organized with the Burbank chapter of the ANC, featured the amazing talent of renowned Armenian artist Rouben Hakhverdian and special guests, Shoushan Petrosyan and Gor Mkhitarian.

Over 100 members of various local ANC chapters, the ANCA-WR Board of Directors, as well as representatives from the ARF Shant Student Association and the ANC Professional Network gathered to socialize and raise awareness about the activities of the ANCA-WR. Attendees also included countless young activists, as well as supporters of the ANC’s efforts, who all came together in common cause to raise funds and awareness for the work of the ANC.

“The ANCA-WR is the most active and largest grassroots Armenian American public affairs organization in the United States,” commented ANCA-WR Board member and co-host for the evening, Vahakn Thomasian.

“Having such stellar performers come together and help raise funds in a private intimate setting is a way for us to not only thank our activists and friends for their support but also acknowledge the great talent in our community and promote our musical traditions and heritage,” Thomasian added.

The intimate setting provided guests with a rare opportunity to experience Rouben Hakhverdian’s unique presentation of Armenian folk and original pieces. Following Rouben’s pieces, Shoushan Petrosyan entertained the audience with her captivating voice and presence and was later joined by world-renowned Armenian folk singer, Gor Mkhitarian.

“It was a truly amazing event. To be so close and in such an intimate setting with three of the most talented superstars in Armenian music was an experience I’m going to always remember,” stated Angineh Babaian of the Glendale ANC.

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots political organization. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the United States and affiliated organizations around the world, the ANCA actively advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
