ANCA-WR, Assemblymember Nazarian to Host Capital Fellows Workshop

The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region and the office of Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian (D-46) are joining together with the Loyola Law School Armenian Law Student’s Association to host a workshop on the California Capital Fellows Programs. The event will be held at Loyola Law School on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 5 pm in Room 220 B.

“Loyola Law School’s Armenian Law Students Association is proud to support the Armenian National Committee of America Western Region and the Office of California State Assemblymember Nazarian in bringing a remarkable opportunity to law students and young professionals in the Los Angeles Area.,” states Alex Pilavjian, Professional Development Chair of ALSA. Mr. Pilavjian goes on to continue, “The Capital Fellows Program allows for participants to gain firsthand knowledge of the inner workings of the California Legislature and provides an inside look at the political process. The program is a tremendous opportunity for all who aspire to work in government or to be involved in politics, and we encourage all interested young Armenians to apply.”

The Capital Fellows Programs are administered by the Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento, and are outstanding opportunities for college graduates to engage in public service and be better prepared for their future careers. In 2010, 2011, and 2012 the Capital Fellows Programs were voted as among the nation’s top 10 internships by the Vault.com Guide to Internships. At the January 24th workshop, alumni representatives’ will present the details of the program and discuss their unique experiences with attendees.

“We are thrilled to partner with Assemblymember Nazarian’s office and the LMU LASA to introduce the nationally recognized Capital Fellows Programs to the youth in our community,” said ANCA-WR Government Affairs Director, Tereza Yerimyan. “Fellows receive an outstanding opportunity to engage in public service and prepare for future careers, while actively contributing to the development and implementation of public policy in California. Former fellows include a Justice of the California Supreme Court, members of the United States Congress and the State Legislature, a deputy director of the Peace Corps, state and local government officials, corporate executives and community leaders,” She continued

Both the ANCA-Western Region and Assemblymember Nazarian’s office encourage college seniors, college graduates, and graduate school students to apply for the Fellowship in order to take advantage of this great opportunity to gain meaningful work experience and open doors to new career opportunities. The deadline to apply is February 10, 2014.
