ANCA-WR ADVOCACY DAY FAST APPROACHING

February 21, 2013

GLENDALE, CA — It is that time of the year again! The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region will be hosting its annual Advocacy Day on Monday, April 15. Activists from across California will be united at the State Capitol where they will be commemorating the 98th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide alongside the California State Legislature.

Over the past few years, the number of attendees during Advocacy Day has been increasing, reaching to more than 250 activists from across California. Our efforts have served as an important opportunity to educate, motivate and engage advocates on the legislative process, as well as issues that will impact Armenian Americans living in the Golden State. Awareness is the first step and it begins here.

This year, the annual commemorations will be accompanied by a month long rotunda exhibit, featuring a selection of inventions patented to Armenian Americans living in California. “This year’s exhibit highlights the contributions of Armenian Americans from California and the rebirth of Armenian ingenuity from the ashes of genocide,” states ANCA-WR Government Affairs Chair, Armen Garabedian. This tantalizing exhibit will feature the stories of survival each of the inventors’ families endured during their escape for the Genocide to their journey to California. This exciting exhibit will be on display in the State Capitol Rotunda beginning on April 1 through April 30. More information on the inventors and the inventions forthcoming.

Those interested in attending should register at www.itsmyseat.com/ancawr.

Registration includes transportation to and from Sacramento and hotel accommodations. Space is limited. If you have questions regarding accommodations or any other details, please contact ANCA-WR External Affairs Deputy Tereza Yerimyan, at (818) 500-1918 or tereza@anca.org.
