ANC-WR Intern Spotlight: Tamar Tavlian

July 24, 2008

Los Angeles, CA – As a participant in the Armenian National Committee – Western Region’s 2008 Summer Internship-Externship Program, Tamar Tavlian has had the opportunity to be exposed to the fast paced world of media and public relations. In addition to publicizing community events, Tavlian has also been involved in the promotional drive for the ANC-WR Annual Banquet.

“I have always been aware of ANC and its various activities, but this program has allowed me to first-handedly experience how this organization operates on a daily basis,” said Tavlian. “The Internship Program has provided me with great opportunities in becoming a more active member of my community,” she added.

In recent weeks, Tavlian and fellow Public and Media Relations Intern Amy Kaladzhyan have been developing a promotional video about the Internship-Externship Program and are putting the finishing touches on two sets of video blogs featuring their fellow Interns and Externs.

Tavlian currently attends Pasadena City College where she studies architecture. She will be submitting applications to various universities this fall with hopes to transfer in a year.

As a long time community activist, Tavlian has volunteered at the ANC-WR on several occasions prior to her Internship. While volunteering for the organization, Tavlian learned about the program and applied for the Summer session, eager to partake in ANC related initiatives.

The Armenian National Committee – Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANC-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
