July 25, 2002

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region announced today that it will host a special reception and dinner honoring the two Armenian-Americans recently appointed judges to the Los Angeles County Superior Court by Governor Gray Davis. Judges Greg Keosian and Zaven Sinanian were amongst the youngest individuals appointed by the Governor during his administration. Both Judges Keosian and Sinanian have been long time ANC supporters and active within the Armenian-American community.

Judge Keosian served as the past chair of the ANC East San Fernando Valley as well as served on the Board of Trustees of Holy Martyrs Armenian Church in Encino, California. Judge Sinanian has been an active supporter of the ANC and recently served on the City of Glendale’s Memorial Committee that was created to find appropriate methods of commemorating the Armenian Genocide. He also prepared the amicus curiae brief on behalf of the California Attorney General in support of the Armenian Genocide Life Insurance Claims Act earlier this year and served past chair of the Armenian Bar Association.

To honor the newest judges of the California Los Angeles County Superior Court the ANCA-WR has organized an evening where Armenian-American community members will have the opportunity to meet the Judges. The dinner will be held on August 15, 2002 at 7 p.m. at Kavar Restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd. in the heart of Los Angeles. Members of the Armenian-American legal community and other interested parties are invited to attend. Tickets for the event may be reserved by calling the ANCA-WR office at (818) 500-1918.

“Both Greg and Zaven are highly respected members of the California Armenian-American community and will undoubtedly make us all proud,” commented Steven J. Dadaian, Chairman of the ANCA-WR. “There are exemplary Armenian-American citizens whose accomplishments in the legal field and their active participation in the affairs of the Armenian-American community are a model to emulate.”
